Co3O4@graphene Composites as Anode Materials for High-Performance Lithium Ion Batteries

This paper talks and reports about a new anode used in the lithium ion batteries made wit Co3O4 in between sheets of graphene (CGC). The nanoparticles of Co3O4 with sizes in a range over 10 and 30 nm were dispersed in the sheets by a chemical deposition method.

The high conductive properties of the graphene sheets with the compound improved the stability of the compound by itself showing a better performance with a higher density of energy after some cycles getting a better performance from the whole battery.

This is the simplified diagram of the process of how this anode its made.

As i said before the capacity of the battery was a good wan having in its first discharge of the CGC about 1256 mA hg-1, giving a higher value than the theoretical prediction for CGC

At 60 cycles the capacity its still high its near of the 740 mA hg-1 being the 83.1% of the theoretical full capacity.

This compound demonstrated the enhancement of the life of the battery having superior performances to other anodes and this are due to the use of graphene due to his excelent and high surface area and his excellent conductivity.
